The Commission Process
For Anna Norris
Commissioning art is a great way to get a one-of-a-kind piece of your choosing. It’s a collaborative process between you and me. I will take your vision and make it real. It can seem daunting but it can be fun. I can work from your photos, source pictures, on site, or from sketches you might have. It depends on what you want. Please take the time to view the paintings page also so you have a good idea of my style.
The more detailed your vision is the better the outcome will be. Some questions you will want to think about before contacting me.
What type of painting do you want? Still life, landscape, figurative…
How big? Think about where this painting will hang.
What type of environment will it be in?
Will I be taking different pictures/ideas and blending them?
Bring the reference images to show me what you are looking for.
Will I be creating something from your imagination?
What type of canvas/surface do you want? Wood panels, canvas, cupboard doors, aluminum, glass? I will need to know what materials will be needed to produce the piece you want. If you need a specific size that requires a custom canvas/surface to be built that changes the time frame.
Will the finished piece be framed? Do you want me to frame it or will you.
I want as many details as possible about the piece you want. DON’T be vague about what you want. This is your piece and I want it to be everything you want. I will let you know if I can or can’t do it.
I use a simple contract
It includes:
A timeline:
when sketches will be provided
when I will send progress updates. This varies depending on the piece.
The date the piece is needed
when I will finish the piece (includes drying times)
The approval process
Per the job this includes the number of changes after the sketches are approved
Approval during the paint process.
The agreed on size, surface type
If a custom size requires a canvas be built or surface fabricated
The price is based on:
size of the piece
the complexity of the piece,
number of revisions,
custom add ons, including framing
Shipping costs are based on UPS rates and will not be calculated until the piece is completed and delivered for shipping.
We will also discuss uses of the piece and what rights I retain as the artist.
Commissioning a work of art can be great for both collectors and artists.
As a collector, it is your chance to be a part of the creative process and bring to life something that you will connect with forever.
For me, it’s a chance to build lasting relationships and stretch my creativity. I love a new challenge.
The Commission Process
For Ted Norris
I want to share my love of clay through my stoneware. My work is functional art. It is art you can use daily and I am here to make your vision come true.
I have a fairly straight forward commission process. Come in and see me or contact me and we can talk about what you want.
I can do custom colors, shapes, pieces. Whether a single piece or a set of unique pieces I welcome taking someone else’s vision and making it reality.
What makes us different?
We really enjoy what we do and appreciate the opportunity to share our joy with others through the classes and services we offer. Our greatest desire is to spark the flames of the creative artist in you!
